Inclusion support

What does inclusion support mean?

In a nutshell, inclusion support refers to creating safe, welcoming and supportive environments for children who may have additional needs. In childcare, this means talking to parents about any specific needs or challenges their child may have and working out a clear plan to best support your child while he or she is in our care.

How does inclusion support work at Seaforth Childcare?

The inclusion of children with additional needs is a big part of what we do at Seaforth Childcare – and we encourage you to share your situation with us from the very beginning so we can best support your child. Not all children with additional needs require support, but we’re equipped and experienced to help your child with:

  • Medical conditions or mental health conditions
  • Disabilities such as the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Developmental delays
  • Difficulties with using the toilet
  • Trauma-related behaviours.

This may involve using different equipment, making sure there are the right resources or team members in place, or applying for the Government’s Inclusion Support if necessary.

What other types of inclusion support do you provide?

We also provide support and special consideration to children in our care who:

  • Are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Are from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Speak another language and are new to the area
  • Are from refugee or humanitarian backgrounds.

Why is inclusion support so important in childcare?

The right help from the start can go a long way towards ensuring your child can participate in all that an early learning environment can offer, and give them positive experiences to set them up for school and beyond.
